Required: postgraduate students for part-time posts as course assistants. 
 
Background
A consortium of Universities (Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Warwick and York) are taking part in a research project to study how to improve progression to postgraduate taught study for students from a wide range of backgrounds. 
 
As part of this research, the project officer at York needs to recruit two current postgraduate students at York who can help support the delivery of an online course. 
 
About the students
You will need to be currently studying, or have previously studied a taught Masters at postgraduate level. You should have an awareness of, and interest in, widening participation. You should be a good communicator and comfortable using social media and the University's VLE. You will need to provide proof of your Right to Work in the UK before the role can be confirmed. 
 
About the role
You'll be expected to work for two hours a week from 25th June 2018 to 5th October 2018. The rate of pay will be the same as Student Ambassadors

You'll be helping a small selection of students who hold offers to study taught Masters here at the University of York. They will be given access to a module in the VLE and you will encourage their participation and answer questions about student life and study at Masters level. 
 
You will be expected to: 
  • Write a short introduction about your background and the PGT course you studied, and have this published in the VLE alongside a picture of you. 
  • Contribute to email communications to participants on the project. 
  • Respond to questions on the "Ask a Postgrad" padlet.
  • Respond to email within a reasonable timeframe. 
  • Take phone calls at designated times. 
  • Populate padlets and social media forums with some initial posts. 
  • Monitor and delete any inappropriate postings, with the assistance of the project officer,
  • Participate in social media discussions, highlighting relevant areas of the online course and sharing your own experiences. 
  • Support the project officer with additional ad-hoc communication and admin around the research project.
