Validating the Developmental Inventory of Mental Health and Wellbeing Capacities (DIWeC)

Dear Participant,

My name is Dr Dusana Dorjee, I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology in Education at the University of York leading the Well Minds Lab. We have recently developed a new self-report questionnaire with the aim to understand better the capacities underpinning mental health and wellbeing, such as self-regulation and sense of self. You are invited to participate in a study that aims to validate this new questionnaire to ensure that we can reliably and accurately measure these capacities. You may participate in this study if you are 16 years old or older.

This study will involve questions about your wellbeing and mental health. If you think such questions may be upsetting to you, it is best if you do not participate in this study. For mental health support you may want to contact the Mind charity:

All of the data collected for this study will be anonymous.  We will not ask for your name or any other identifying information.  The data will be stored in a password protected file and will only be accessible to the researchers involved in the project.  The anonymous data may be used in presentations, online, in research reports, in project summaries or similar.   In addition, the anonymous data may be used for further analysis.  Your individual data will not be identifiable but if you do not want the data to be used in this way please do not complete the questionnaire.

If you do agree to complete the questionnaire you are free to leave any questions unanswered or to stop completing the questionnaire altogether at any point.  It will take about 15 minutes to complete all the questions. Once the questionnaire is submitted the data cannot be withdrawn as it is anonymous so there will be no way to identify your data.  The data will be kept indefinitely and deposited in an open-access repository such as Research Data York.

At the end of the questionnaire you will have the opportunity to enter into a draw for a £20 Amazon voucher. If you would like to participate in the draw, you will need to enter your email address so that we can send you the voucher if you are selected in the draw. Your email address will be kept separate from your questionnaire responses and deleted within one month after your entry.
