Greener Vascular Surgery: Survey of Current Green Practices
The climate emergency is an issue we are all aware of and many of us make significant efforts in our private lives and commuting habits to reduce our environmental impact. Evidence generated over recent years suggests that the contribution of healthcare, in particular surgery, to climate change may be significant. This has highlighted engagement and willingness to effect change amongst surgical care providers. This research has also highlighted leadership as a vital facilitator to positive change.
VERN along with VSGBI and other national professional bodies, is keen to gather data regarding your views on environmentally sustainable practices in vascular surgery to understand the baseline situation across Trusts in the UK. This survey aims to determine which interventions may be practically implementable, financially viable and acceptable in the care of our patients; and what potential barriers to change currently exist. For the purposes of this survey greener is defined as the development and implementation of more environmentally friendly policies and practices.
The survey can be completed anonymously, however to understand geographical variation, we do ask you provide your UK based centre. If you are happy to provide your name AND email address your contribution will be recognised as part of the collaborative authorship model. We are extremely grateful for your time in completing this survey, which should take no more than 5 minutes.
